Police are looking for two men they said broke into a Tri Street home last month and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, coins and prescription medicine.

Police have issued warrants for Joseph Neri, 31, of Hopkinton, and Calogero Lobrutto, 26, of Milford.

On Aug 20, at 4:30 p.m., a Tri Street resident returned home and found that his home had been ransacked and more than $5,000 worth of property had been stolen, police spokesman Lt. Richard Briggs said.

Briggs said someone used a pry bar to force open a window near the rear of the house.

During the investigation, Ashland Police discovered that Sherborn Police arrested Neri, of 116 Hayden Rowe St., and Lobrutto, of 23 Lincoln St., on Aug. 27 after police there said they broke into a home near the Ashland line.

In that break-in, the pair used a one-inch pry bar to break into the home, and Briggs said the bar matched the marks left on the Ashland home.

“It also appeared that paint chips from the Ashland home were still contained on the pry bar,” Briggs said.

Investigators then found a large amount of the stolen jewelry had been sold by Lobrutto at a pawn shop in Worcester on Aug. 20, the same day as the break-in. Briggs said about $3,000 of the $5,000 in stolen goods had been found.

Briggs said warrants have been issued for both Lobrutto and Neri’s arrest. They are both charged with breaking and entering, larceny of property worth more than $250 and malicious destruction of property worth more than $250.
